The shortest way from the farm to your cup is a relationship.

“Direct trade” is quickly claimed. For us it means something concrete: for every coffee, we know who grew it, because we know the people, work with them and have invested in the countries of origin ourselves.

People with names

Behind each of our coffees are people with names: Massimo Barnabà selects our green coffees — he knows the farms, the harvest years, the hands behind them. Sandro Bonacchi, our sensory specialist, cups every origin with him before it becomes one. Samuele Bonacchi roasts them — with over forty years of experience in exceptional coffees. On the farms we are accompanied by Leonello Anello, biodynamic agronomist; Fitsum Bekere runs the Golden Farm in Ethiopia; Héctor Luis Marin — a farmer by passion and a profound connoisseur of his region — runs Finca Mariposa in Peru and also advises Fiadanana and the Golden Farm as consulting agronomist; and in Madagascar, Avotra Rabearisoa — Avo — is building a plantation with us where there was nothing before.

No carousel of buyers, no anonymous lots: the same people, year after year.

Our principles

And where a relationship did not go far enough, we became owners: three farms are majority-owned by our group and work biodynamically. That is the most radical form of direct trade: there is no longer any middleman left to bypass.

What that means for you: an origin that is not a label, but an address.
