• Finca La Victoria: die Plantage

Finca La Victoria: a hundred years of family, one cup of Mexico.

    Partner terroir
    Sierra Norte de Puebla, Mexico

Four generations.

Not every farm we talk about is ours. This one has belonged to the same family for over a hundred years, and that is exactly why we talk about it.

In the Sierra Norte de Puebla, six hours from Mexico City, the Lechuga family has been growing coffee for over a century — Efraín Lechuga runs Finca La Victoria today in the fourth generation. The farm lies at around 1'100 metres, but its terroir plays in a different league: in the cup, this coffee tastes as if it came from 2'000 metres — dense, rich, unusually intense for its altitude.

Finca La Victoria: Kaffeepflanzen der Varietät Oro Azteca

A single variety: Oro Azteca

The coffee we source from La Victoria is a single variety: Oro Azteca — organically grown, washed-processed. Its origin is guaranteed by the Slow Food Coffee Coalition.

In the cup: a bright, citrus-fresh opening that passes into cocoa and tobacco leaf — with honey, chocolate-coated citrus peel, a finish like sponge cake. Dry, grown-up, with depth. And for our roaster, an étude: acidity and roast have to be balanced anew in every batch, so that exactly this equilibrium emerges that Efraín so persistently preserves on the farm.

Direct trade as equals

This is direct trade in its oldest form: not ownership, but a relationship — with people who have known their land for longer than we have existed.
